Andrew Leahey joined the All Music Guide ranks in 2007, following a not-so-lucrative stint as a music journalist in New York City. His writing has appeared in ~SPIN, ~Radar, ~Paste, ~The Washington Times, and ~CMJ New Music Monthly, where he also served as Senior Book Critic for two years. A musician as well as a writer, Andrew fronted the critically overlooked (and woefully underbooked) rock quintet Hobson's Choice while attending the University of Virginia, and later obtained some semblance of conservatory cred by performing choral music at the Juilliard School for two semesters. Nevertheless, he prefers Sebastian Bach to Johann, although he admits the latter has certainly aged better.
