Harmony-laden melodic pop straddling the line between British Invasion rock and hazy California pop, We Are Vikings formed in 1999 with the meeting of multi-instrumentalists Mike Scutari and Ed Donohue in the college town of Harrisonburg, VA. Scutari, who had already released 20 albums under various pseudonyms and with bands such as Sixth Grade Salvation and the Shrouded Strangers, handles the majority of the songwriting, with him and Donohue also participating in a number of side projects. Starting out with the ideal of the Everly Brothers, We Are Vikings ended up mixing those influences with early Bee Gees, fully indulging their overt pop sensibilities while maintaining brotherly harmonies. Their debut self-titled album was released on Sauce Records in 2000.
